Base

Counting relies on the repetition of sets of symbols. The base of a counting system is the number of symbols used. We widely use decimal which is base ten. Computers use binary (base two) because an electronic switch only has two states. Colors are usually represented in hexadecimal. Roses are ff0000 violets are 0000ff.
